The days when my daughter earnestly asks me to cook something for her are my happiest days.
Today was one such day when she just wanted me to make her chicken dum biryani along with her favourite creamy raita. All of this because, I bought this season's first Alfonso mangoes. Arushee loves mangoes and eagerly looks forward to the season of mangoes which would continue well into may and sometimes early June.
Nothing makes me more happy than cooking for her and her father and seeing them devour every morsel to their hearts content. Completely thankful for this moment and blessing.
In the frame you are seeing
Chicken and vegetable dum biryani along with creamy boondi (small, round deep fried savoury snack made with gram flour) raita and tangy, nutty salan to accompany the biryani.
Salan or the tangy nutty gravy is quite underrated I feel. It actually plays a very important role in making Biryani a special experience. A good salan completes the biryani. (Recipe coming soon).
Finally for desserts (no pictures taken 😂) has "Tillamook" Caramel toffee flavour ice-cream topped with fresh chunks of mangoes..
It's comfort food for all times.
May the best biryani be soon yours.
