This is a delicacy which every Indian family in coastal regions are used to in their meals as staple side dish.
Used both as an appetizer and as a side dish to the main meal, this pan fried fish fry is simple and delicious and a must try for every non-vegetarian who loves fish.
Here's how this is made.
Ingredients:
4 slices of fish. Use a fish which is lean, moist and has firm texture. I used Red Snapper.
3-4 cloves of garlic
2 inch ginger
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 tablespoon garam masala
2 tablespoons coriander powder
2 tablespoons of lime juice
1 teaspoon salt or according to the taste.
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.
3 tablespoons Oil to shallow fry.
Method:
First take the ginger and the garlic cloves and make a fine paste in a blender.
Blend all the above ingredients to soft paste barring the oil and the fish.
Now marinate the fish slices by smearing the paste evenly on both the sides of the fish and let them rest for a minimum of an hour. Fish usually does not need long marination hours.
Pan fry the fish slices in oil for about 3-4 minutes on each side or till crispy and the coated spices are well cooked.
Serve hot with either steamed rice or just as an appetizer.
Enjoy!!!
